Executive Creative Director
John moved to Proximity in 2013 and has since helped the agency pick up nearly 150 awards, including a Gold Effectiveness Lion for The Economist and another Agency of the Year title. In 2018, he was named in Campaign’s top 20 ECDs and BIMA’s 100 Most Influential People in Digital.
After failing at being a drummer in a band, John got into the music business by designing record covers instead. Then Napster happened so he swapped CDs for CDing at Grey Direct and Joshua (Geometry), before moving on to a senior position at AIS. He then traded one start up for another, spending ten years as a founding partner and ECD at Elvis. During his time, he won awards at Cannes, D&AD and The One Show, as well as Agency of the Year.
John lives in south London with his partner Sarah, and a cat who thinks he’s a dog. Unfortunately, John still can’t drum.
