Head of Design
Brian joined Proximity in 2015 and now leads a diverse team of 25 designers. With specialisms ranging from motion design to branding, he ensures the output is well crafted and conceptually sound. He was a key part of the core team that helped the agency win IKEA, Virgin Holidays and Bacardi. Brian recently undertook the mammoth task of rebranding the Proximity network across 32 offices worldwide, bringing together a consistent and refreshed brand positioning.
Brian cut his teeth in London at brand agency Unreal, where he became CD and Partner – working with Coca-Cola, P&G, BBC and the Mayor of London. Prior to that he founded a design studio, Biggie Smalls, inside a large Sydney Ad agency and more recently he was CD at The Allotment. Brian is the recipient of a whole string of awards, including a D&AD Yellow Pencil and Design Week Lightbulb. He has judged D&AD in London and the Best awards in Auckland.
As a kiwi, Brian is obviously a big supporter of the All Blacks. He also collects 20th Century art prints and has reached the point where more wall space is a necessity. Brian is Proximity's self-proclaimed Connect 4 champion (challengers welcome).
