A STEP-UP TO START OUT

Ever wondered what goes on in a creative agency? Come have a nose round ours for a couple of weeks.

To get into this industry, it used to be less about what you know and more about who you know. But Proximity is doing a little something to help change that. Platform is a work experience scheme that aims to give 15-21 year olds a first start, whatever their background.

No previous experience or string-pullers needed – we don’t see your name, gender or personal details when you apply (only your enthusiasm). Giving everyone a fairer shot, regardless of their connections.

So if you want to get a taste of our agency, just show us you’re keen and we’ll get you in.

 

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

You’ll spend two weeks with us at our Bankside office, getting a sample of different roles and departments. We’ll give you a realistic brief to have a crack at, so you’ll get a clearer picture of what it’s like to work in our industry. 

You might find out if you’re more suited to becoming a deep-thinking planner, a number-loving data strategist or an idea-generating creative. Or maybe you’ll find you don’t like any of our roles at all. And that’s ok too. There’s no pressure – these two weeks are all about trying things out and seeing what’s what.

 

OUR ONLY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be aged 15-21
  • You’ll need to be available from Monday 29th June – Friday 10th July 2020
  • You need to be enthusiastic about giving ad agency life a go
  • The deadline for entries is Thursday 30th April

 

HOW DO I APPLY?

Just answer the three questions below. There are no right or wrong answers and you don’t need to be an advertising expert. All we want to see is that you’re keen to give it a shot.

And it’s fine if you’re not good with words, we’re not obsessed with splling. You can also attach any designs or sketches to help get your point across, if it helps.

FAQs

Will it break the bank?

There are no charges at all to attend Platform. We will also cover travel expenses where possible and provide a daily lunch allowance.

Who will I be working with?

Don’t stress about feeling out of place – you’ll be among 10 young people just like you. You’ll be working together in teams, so you won’t be left on your own. And since this is especially for total advertising newbies, everyone will be in the same boat.

Why the age limit?

Platform has been designed specifically for 15-21 year olds, so we can tailor it to be most helpful to young people in their first experiences with working life. This is a unique time to gain an understanding of the workplace and build character with the influence of mentors and role models. Platform is not just about contemplating a new career, but developing skills that will help with transitioning into adulthood.
