Account Manager - VW


We are looking for an Account Manager to work on Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen was the founding client for Proximity 25 years ago and has gone from strength to strength. We work across Volkswagen, SKODA, SEAT, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Volkswagen Financial Services and recently added the final brand in the group, Audi, to our client list. As the lead CRM agency for VWG we work on projects end to end and across all disciplines including client leadership, strategy, data, creative and design.





The position will report into a SAM for day to day projects with the AD managing their reviews and career planning. The Account Manager will work primarily on Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with scope to move on to Volkswagen as well. They will be responsible for all BAU projects and day to day running of the account, they will work hand in hand with our project manager as well as supporting the SAM on strategic projects. 




  • To build strong client relationships which enable a clear understanding of your client’s perspectives and personal ambitions


  • To build strong internal relationships across the agency especially within the critical project delivery departments (Creative service, Creative, Tech, Studio, Production)


  • To proactively excel at the brilliant basics of client service including ownership of creating and updating agendas, timing plans, contact reports and cost estimates


  • To demonstrate ownership in the delivery of projects through management of client expectations, internal processes and department involvement - working alongside/in support of a PM for complex digital briefs


  • To have a clear understanding of, and abide by, the agency’s processes for moving a project through the agency


  • To proactively seek the involvement of your line manager and other key approvers at key stages across the project timeline


  • To familiarise yourself with the project context from the business challenge generating the client brief to the relevant competitor landscape


  • To demonstrate curiosity in your client’s business products and goals from their commercial KPIs and brand vision to their competitor and consumer landscape


  • To attend and engage in the fortnightly Client Service meetings as well as other agency wide presentations and training sessions






  • Strong project management skills – attention to detail, ability to prioritise effectively, commercially numerate, proactivity and forward planning


  • Strong communication skills – articulate in person and in writing, confident presenter to a small group of colleagues or clients, ability to build trusted relationships


  • Collaborative and inquisitive mindset – strong team player, demonstrate positive energy, be curious, think laterally to find solutions


  • Likely to be a graduate with 2+ years’ experience


  • Direct and/or digital channel experience


  • Digitally literate (preferably experience of Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
